This will help us give lab participants a sense of where they are and what comes next in the process of understanding how to make use of general-purpose AI tools. The framework will help us design better labs. It will evolve in line with our thinking about all these things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The framework defines four key <strong>functions<\/strong> a lab can serve:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Acclimatisation<\/strong> \u2013 helping people get comfortable with AI tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Experimentation<\/strong> \u2013 trying out tasks to see what works and what doesn\u2019t<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Proof of concept<\/strong> \u2013 asking whether AI could handle a specific challenge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Iteration<\/strong> \u2013 going back to improve on an earlier result<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It also distinguishes between <strong>domains<\/strong> (like consultancy or authorship) and <strong>contexts<\/strong> (like \u201ca solo consultant writing a project bid\u201d). Labs are set up to reflect domain + context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The framework defines a simple set of <strong>participant roles<\/strong> &#8211; observer, explorer, and facilitator &#8211; and outlines the kinds of <strong>outcomes<\/strong> we\u2019re hoping for: confidence, insight, and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full conceptual framework is <a href=\"https:\/\/anapoly.co.uk\/labs\/conceptual-framework\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"365\">here<\/a>, and we\u2019ll continue to refine it as our practice develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This diary post is part of our public notebook.
